Aero Consulting was founded by Patrick Newcomb, an industry veteran who, after decades of managing flight departments for multi-billion-dollar organizations, recognized a critical leadership gap and shortage of qualified aviation managers in the business aviation sector. Our founder observed companies losing significant resources due to well-intentioned aviation staff making operational decisions without the necessary expertise. At the heart of the issue is the scarcity of flight departments led by individuals with the business acumen required to effectively manage these complex, high-cost, high-risk, and high-reliability operations. The consequences are evident throughout corporate aviation: toxic work environments, poor workplace reputations, lax budgetary practices, weakened safety cultures, and high turnover of key personnel.


Aero Consulting has spent decades refining their craft, cultivating business acumen, and developing leadership skills while successfully managing large corporate flight departments. Today, they leverage this expertise to build and manage flight departments that avoid the common pitfalls that hinder the industry. We maintain strong relationships with aviation technology providers, MROs, OEMs, insurers, aircraft brokers, and other essential service partners. Our goal is to equip aircraft owners and flight departments with industry best practices, enabling them to effectively manage operational costs while maximizing the value of their investment.

Who We are

Patrick M. Newcomb

 Founder & Principal Consultant –     ATP, CFI, MEI 

 

Patrick Newcomb is an accomplished aviation and business development professional with more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning corporate, charter, and commercial flight operations. As Founder and Principal Consultant of Aero Consulting, LLC, Patrick leverages his deep expertise in FAA regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and organizational leadership to help aviation companies optimize safety, efficiency, and performance.


Patrick’s distinguished career includes serving as Chief Pilot, Director of Flight Operations, and Part 135 Check Airman for several leading flight departments and charter operators, including Jet Edge, EJM, Link Snacks, and Justiss Oil Company. He has successfully led large flight teams, developed company-wide safety management systems (SMS), and guided organizational transitions through mergers and regulatory changes. Known for his collaborative leadership style, Patrick excels at cultivating strong safety cultures, mentoring pilots, and fostering cohesive, high-performing teams.


Before returning to aviation full-time, Patrick held executive roles in finance and business development, where he honed his strategic and analytical skills in start-up operations, risk management, and financial planning. His unique combination of aviation and business acumen allows him to provide clients with both operational insight and strategic vision.

A U.S. Navy veteran and former SH-60F/H Rescue Swimmer, Patrick brings a mission-focused mindset and uncompromising commitment to safety and professionalism to every endeavor. He holds an Airline Transport Pilot certificate and instructor ratings for both single and multi-engine aircraft.


Patrick earned his degree in Business Finance from the University of Phoenix and completed advanced aviation studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He continues to contribute to the aviation community as an FAA FAASTeam Representative and a member of the NBAA Domestic Operations Committee, Part 135 Subcommittee.
